The Heart of Rescue: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

So far we have used the grant for two very qualified adoptions as well as help maintaining the care for the animals while we wait for qualified adopters. Adoptions for us, as well as everyone in the rescue and shelter community, have slowed way down. The funds have helped us continue to care for the dogs in our rescue.

How many pets did this grant help?

So far we have helped two adoptions and have plans to help more. We should be able to help 3-4 more dogs find home with free or reduced-fee adoptions.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Neo (first three photos) went to a repeat adopter. Neo is a senior boy who just needed a great place to land for the rest of his years. The gentleman who adopted is a veteran and, since he had already adopted from us, we felt the funds were well-spent on offering him a fee-free adoption.

Nugget (photos 4-6) was with us for about six months before finding his forever home. Nugget’s adopter was a younger gentleman who was very dedicated and aware of the expenses involved in caring for a pet but had not planned on our specified fee.

We didn’t want to lose a good adopter for a small technicality when we had grant money to support the fee. We reduced his fee to what he had budgeted for an adoption fee so tha he was able to adopt from us.
