We offered half-price adoptions for the month of October -- DOGTOBER! All animals were half-price for the entire month! We had 65 adoptions in Dogtober.

We have so many stories! We used the monies for half-price adoptions for the month of October (or Dogtober) — we included cats as well!

In Dogtober, we had 65 adoptions, but the story that stands out is Baxter! Baxter had been adopted previously and returned to the shelter as he was not a good fit on his trial adoption.

We had an adopter who really liked Baxter, but Baxter was adopted before she could gather the funds to adopt. Baxter was on her “wish list of adoptions.”

When Baxter was returned to the shelter, the wish became a reality, as this wonderful adopter could now afford Baxter thanks to the reduced adoption fees offered by Stephens County Humane Society and the generous grant awarded by the Petfinder Foundation and Kia.

As you can see in the pictures, he was a sad hound dog when he came in (first photo), but look at his at home pics (second and third photos)! Patient, kind, and having fun — it was a match that was meant to be. Thank you for allowing this wish-list adopter to fulfill her dream!
