How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The product was used to provide enrichment for the more than 200 dogs in our care at any given time.

KONG products give anxious dogs a less destructive outlet for their natural chewing instinct in reaction to the anxiety they may be experiencing due to abandonment or the shelter environment. An outlet for anxiety and excess energy like the KONG products provide helps animals to be more easily adoptable.

Dudley (first photo) is a very sweet and loyal boy who was surrendered by his owner to the shelter. Sadly, he was not thriving in the shelter environment. He was very timid at first, but once he gets to know you he is very sweet and loving. The Kong toys provided staff a way to connect with Dudley. Thanks to a post on our Facebook page featuring this adorable picture of Dudley enjoying a peanut-butter stuffed KONG, he was fostered for the holidays and we are hoping it turns into a permanent placement.
