How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We utilized the Kong toys received from the grant for enrichment for our shelter animals. Once the COVID-19 pandemic hit, we were successful in finding foster homes for all of our shelter animals. While in the past, we were able to reuse Kong toys during the day, having all of our animals in foster care required us to have Kong toys for each animal to go home with. Without the Petfinder Foundation Kong toy grant, we wouldn't have been able to provide the proper enrichment for all of the pets in our care.

Having the Kong toys from the Petfinder Foundation Kong toy grant allowed us to provide proper enrichment for all animals in our care during the COVID-19 pandemic. With all of our animals in foster care, we did not have enough Kong toys to provide one to every dog who needed one.

Mara was one of our long-term dogs who developed behavior issues during her time at the shelter. Once out of her kennel, she would try her hardest to avoid going back in. The only way she would go back is if she had her Kong ready and waiting for her. When she went into foster care, we made sure she had her trusty Kong with her and some hot dogs for stuffing! Mara has since been adopted into a loving home and is thriving!
