Animal Aid of Tulsa: P.L.A.Y. Pet Beds Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The P.L.A.Y. beds awarded by the Petfinder Foundation grant have been used for the comfort of our rescues, all of whom were either injured or ill and in danger of euthanasia.

Our rescues are understandably fearful and hurting when they come to us. These awesome beds provide comfort to them as well as something that can travel with them on their journey from vet hospital to foster and beyond. The beds are a convenient size and quite comfortable, and provide familiarity to the rescues.

How many pets did this grant help?

At least a dozen

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Loretta (first two photos) is the happiest dog we have met. Both her front legs were broken when she was hit by a car. The right leg had to be removed immediately. It then turned out that the left leg suffered complete nerve damage which did not respond to therapy, acupuncture, or any other modalities of treatment. She will require further surgery but will have her bed with her. You can meet Loretta here.

Timmy (third and fourth photos) is an older dog who got his hind leg caught in a jaw trap. When we met him, he was desperately ill from malnutrition and raging infection in addition to having lost his paw. During his recovery and surgeries, Timmy has consistently picked his bed over other available alternatives. It makes him feel good. You can meet Timmy here.
