Wood County Humane Society: All-Star Dog Rescue Celebration Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The FOX's Cause for Paws grant money was used to purchase a brand new grooming tub for our kennels to bathe our resident dogs in.

This grant allowed us to purchase a brand new grooming tub to bathe our dogs in. Our shelter previously had a cast iron tub (for people) that we had modified for bathing our dogs. By being able to purchase a brand new tub, suited for bathing dogs, we are now able to bathe our dogs more safely. The tub came with stairs so dogs can get in and out of the tub and staff and volunteers don't have to lift them in. The tub also has taller sides, and a more secure way to tie our dogs in to the tub, making it more safe while bathing. The other benefit to our tub is that it is taller, which is nice for our staff and volunteers, so they don't have to bend over as much while bathing dogs.

How many pets did this grant help?

This grant has helped all of the dogs currently in our care (12), and will help countless others who enter our shelter on their journey to finding their forever homes.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Asha, a mastiff, was the first dog to get a bath in our brand new tub. She is an extra-large girl, so having the steps allowed her to get in and out of the tub by herself, which made giving her a bath easier for our staff member Cassie! Our new tub provides a more optimal and safer space for our staff and volunteers to bathe the dogs who come into our care so that we can help make them comfortable and keep them clean on their journeys to their forever homes!
