Central Ohio Sheltie Rescue, Inc.: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We used your generous donation to buy much-needed dog food. We were able to make it stretch even further by finding a store that was selling out that line because the bags had changed. So we got twice as much for our buck!

It enabled us to provide our rescues with quality food that helps their whole body recover from any inadequacies that resulted from previous care. It helped relieve us from the stress of dealing with all the Covid needs while providing quality foods as we waited to see what the fallout would be of all the new restrictions.

How many pets did this grant help?

This helped approximately five or six dogs get the nutrition they deserved.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Just before Covid struck and shut everyone down, we had taken in seven shelties from a sad situation in the state of Washington. Their owner was missing and later found deceased. There were 27 shelties on the premises. The national sheltie rescue and a local all-breed rescue in that state came to the rescue. We were able to take seven of them.

They have all been adopted but one so far. Her name is Devon. She is young and very exuberant, so we need to make sure she gets into the right home that will work with her and put her talents to work!

All seven came in with rough coats and brittle hair. Oh, were they filthy, too! The quality food they were given from the time we acquired them turned their whole looks and demeanor around within 30 days. We use Pro Plan foods and have always gotten excellent results. We strive to use no other. Once their true personalities came out, they found homes quickly.
