Homeless Animal Rescue Team of Cincinnati: Cat Enrichment Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

With the Petfinder Foundation grant, we were able to purchase 11 portable pet playpens for the fosters who get birthing cats, which makes a BIG difference in the foster homes!

Because we are home-based, it's critical that the foster cats (specifically the mother and kittens) are safe and contained, and the playpens we were able to purchase with this grant provided that.

How many pets did this grant help?

Up to 66

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Sabrina was found by a kind person hanging around his apartment. She was so friendly, he brought her in.

After a few days, he noticed she was getting big in the belly and thought she might be pregnant, so he reached out to rescues and HART responded. She was picked up by a HART volunteer and immediately taken to the vet to be checked out.

Not only was she pregnant, but she was going to deliver very soon. It was important to have a foster who had experience with birthing cats and had a place to put them to separate them from the other cats in the household and provide the privacy for momma and kittens. The playpen we acquired with this grant was exactly what was needed!

As newborns, the kittens stayed very close to mama Sabrina, so a small playpen kept them cozy and safe. As they have grown, Sabrina appreciates that the roof can unzip, giving her the ability to take short breaks while knowing her babies are safe within the playpen.

We want to thank the Petfinder Foundation for the generous grant that allows us to continue our mission of saving animals!
