Humane Society of Summit County: Sponsor a Pet Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The money that we received from the Petfinder Foundation was put to good use in providing care for the animals we rescue every day.

We rescue animals that have been abused, injured and neglected. Many come in with urgent medical needs, such as being hit by a car and they need a limb amputated, and some come with few needs besides a new loving home. Whatever the case, we accept them and help them find their furever homes.

How many pets did this grant help?

In 2014, we rescued over 2,600 animals from abuse, neglect and abandonment.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

It’s safe to say that Fabio had a pretty rough start in life. As you can see, our Humane Officers found him tied outdoors in the pouring rain. He was tangled between two trash cans and could not access any relief from the elements. So off he went to journey back here to PAWS where he would wait for a new forever home and make a lot of friends in the process.

During his time here, a haircut definitely became a priority and we hoped that a fresh grooming would bring good luck in finding our boy a home. And it did! Here is Fabio with his new mom and we are so happy they have found each other. We will miss his spunkiness around the shelter but know how happy he will be with his new life.
