Toledo Animal Rescue: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

With the $1,000 received through the 2022 Kia Pet Adoption Grant, Toledo Animal Rescue was able to offer a $25 discount on 40 cat and dog adoptions in May and early June. Each animal adopted was posted on Petfinder prior to adoption. In addition, many adopters donated additional money as a thank-you for the offer of a reduced adoption fee.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

The first pet adopted after the Kia Pet Adoption Grant discount became available was Roadagin, a 2½-year-old Shih Tzu. Roadagin was surrendered in pretty rough shape. His hair was matted and he had a terrible skin condition. In addition, he had an eye infection that had not been addressed before he was relinquished.

He was a super sweet pup, but because of his discomfort, he was not showing his best self. After some TLC, a good bath and brushing, and some medication for the infection and rash, Roadagin was well on his way to recovery.

Fast forward a few weeks and once he was available for adoption, he was gone in a hurry to start the next great chapter in his life.
