Peaches Bully Rescue: Emergency Medical Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We had four special-needs English bulldogs come in who needed immediate medical care. The grant was used to offset their bills.

We would not have been able to take in these poor pups and they would have been euthanized by the breeder. Fortunately, the grant helped enough that we didn't have to make choices between our rescue dogs' care.

Oswald (first three photos) came to us with hydrocephalus (water on the brain). He needed immediate medical attention to help stop the swelling that was continuing in his head. After a few days of medical care, medications were able to contain his condition and he could go on to lead a semi-normal life. Oswald found a fantastic furever home with experience with this condition. None of this would have been possible without the grant money.

Geonna (fourth photo) was from another breeding operation and was having a hard time with cognitive development. It was thought that she was blind, deaf and possibly would never walk normally. The outlook wasn’t good when she had a variety of tests done but continued to have seizures — up to 10 a day. After an emergency trip to the clinic and lots of trial of meds, we are happy to report that Geonna is living her life as a healthy, happy puppy. While battling a severe respiratory infection, this girl defied all odds and now her seizures are managed with meds. She is currently pending adoption with our rescue and we are so happy that her eyesight and hearing are normal.
