Ready for Rescue: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We used our grant to help with the influx of animals being surrendered as a result of Covid-19.

As a result of the pandemic, the shelter stopped doing spay/neuter for the animals we were rescuing. This grant help offset some of those medical costs.

The pandemic also saw people losing their homes and having to surrender animals, many of whom had had no vetting, so this allowed us to get those cats the vet care they needed.

Lumpy is a particularly moving story. Lumpy wound up at the NYC shelter with severe ataxia. But that didn’t hamper his loving demeanor. We had to do several diagnostics to determine what the cause was and rule out any systemic disease. It was determined he has cerebellar hypoplasia. Amazingly, we found an incredible home that just loves him to bits, as you can see from the photos below.
