Baby, a 10 month old Chihuahua, was in labor and in trouble, when we rescued her. She had been in labor over 14 hours and was failing. Fortunately we had a vet onsite preparing for our shelter spays/neuters. She was able to do an emergency c-section and found that Baby’s first pup was stuck and had died in the birth canal, blocking the passage for all others and putting her in septic shock. Infection had set in. The blanket was used to maintain her vitals during a prolonged C-section. Without the blanket maintaining Baby’s body temperature, she may not have made it.
