Cat Republic: Emergency Medical Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The grant from the Petfinder Foundation helped us to pay for Gabie's pelvic-repair surgery in early January 2022. The surgery cost was about $5,000, and the $1,000 grant from the Petfinder Foundation helped us greatly in our fundraising efforts!

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

This little guy came to us from Animal Care Centers of NYC in December after being found in a basement with a fractured pelvis.

Gabie just finished his eight weeks of cage rest after his pelvic-repair surgery and was adopted by his surgical tech at the hospital. She fell in love with him while he was there for his surgery and we’re so happy he found a permanent home with her.

Gabie had his eight-week check-up yesterday and has healed beautifully. The knuckling in his hind leg has almost entirely resolved, and he is able to lead a normal life — which is a good thing because Gabie is a mischievous, playful kitten at heart!

Gabie went from a scared little cat found hissing in a basement to a fully-healed, happy house cat in two months, and we could not be more proud of him!
