Dally's Hope 4 Paws Rescue Inc: KONG Toys Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Thank you so much for the Kongs! They are given to the dogs for great brain stimulation getting the treats out.

Right now, five fosters are using them. When it's rest time, the Kongs are given out so the dogs can spend some time focusing on getting the frozen peanut butter and treats out of them.

How many pets did this grant help?

Right now, it has helped six.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Mamma BooBoo was a stray from a shelter in Virginia. I set up a volunteer transport for her to come to New York on Dec. 27. She went in to get spayed on the 22nd and, well, Mamma was about to be just that! It turned out that she is pregnant with about 10 pups, due two to three weeks.

She started to go into labor during a vet visit, so I rushed her home and got her relaxed. She’s still holding on to the pups; it was too early for her to deliver. She is 95 lbs. of complete LOVE.

She gets a Kong two to three times a day with peanut butter and/or biscuits in it to help her relax and focus on something else besides the discomfort she is experiencing right now. Every now and again, she gets a burst of energy and kicks it around and plays with it. With 10 pups on the way, they will all be getting one when they get old enough to go to their new homes. Thank you so much!
