Awesome Paws Rescue: KONG Toys Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The toys were used for two litters of puppies. There were nine pups in each litter.
With the puppies' sharp teeth, we were in desperate need for teething toys for them to play with. It saved us a lot of money not having to buy toys at that time.
How many pets did this grant help?
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
We had two surprise pregnancies. We brought two dogs up from a high-[intake] shelter in West Virginia and found out they were both very pregnant (and due any day with nine puppies each).
One of the moms, Poppy, had recently had two puppies already, so this poor dog had 11 puppies within a year. She went through a lot and we were really happy to give her puppies toys to play with so she could take much-needed naps to relax.
When the puppies were old enough, we adopted the mom out to an older lady and Poppy is now living a very spoiled and relaxed life.
We split the puppies up into pairs and they all brought Kongs to their foster homes (which the fosters were very thankful for). All nine puppies have since been adopted and are in great homes around Western New York.
