Paws Crossed Animal Rescue, Inc.: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Thank you so much for this lifesaving grant! We used our $750 towards microchips, vaccines and foods for our orphaned pets.

This grant, now more than ever, was critical in helping us prepare our orphaned pets for their forever homes. This includes microchips, vaccines and food for so many orphaned pets who then became forever family members! INCREDIBLE!

How many pets did this grant help?

50

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

We received a plea from a transport group we work with about a very special group of five puppies; they were all either sight-impaired or completely blind. How could we say no? Rescue never stops, even when the rest of the world does! These pups arrived at Paws Crossed and were immediately taken to an eye specialist. It was confirmed: Two had VERY limited sight, and three were completely blind. The good news? The vet said that normally, when he sees a litter like this, the pups are completely deaf too! Not our little nuggets.

Det. Olivia Benson, Dr. Doogie Howser, Mrs. Frizzle, Mr. Hooper and Newman were named after everyday heroes, especially during these turbulent days: a doctor, a bus driver, a grocer, a detective and a mailman! They too are heroes, not because they are blind, but because their use all their senses to be normal little bouncy, pouncy, adorable, loving pups!

We love this Helen Keller quotation that truly sums up the gumption of our little heroes: “The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision.” Thanks to the help of your amazing grant, their futures are bright with amazing families in their lives (see all their adoption photos below)! Thank you, Petfinder Foundation!
