Most of the adult dogs we rescue are heartworm-positive. Erika is just one of the dogs who come to us with flea and tick complications; some have been over-bred and most are in very poor condition. In addition to giving them standard medical care, we treat them for heartworm disease. This adds greatly to the cost of medical care, plus the six to eight weeks the dogs spend in boarding until they are totally healthy. Erika recovered from bad infections, severe anemia and heartworm treatment. She was recently adopted by a loving forever family!
