NMDOG: KONG Toys Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The Kongs received in this grant will be used at NMDOG HQ for the dogs undergoing medical and behavioral rehabilitation after being rescued off of their chains.

Currently, we have many dogs undergoing medical and behavioral rehabilitation since being rescued from their chains. Kongs are a great tool to use for added enrichment during their time with us. We stuff them with peanut butter and freeze them or, for our kiddos with allergies, we use special food and treats free of their allergens and freeze that.

How many pets did this grant help?

We currently have 17 dogs housed at NMDOG HQ along with seven dogs in boarding, all waiting for foster or forever homes. These Kongs will benefit all of these dogs.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Axis was rescued off of his chain with an untreated eye injury. He received the surgery he needed, has made a full medical recovery and is currently available for adoption. THANK YOU for helping us provide quality enrichment for the dogs in our care! Meet Axis: www.petfinder.com/petdetail/37716282
