J & Co. Rescue: Emergency Medical Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
This grant was used for one of our dogs, Neo. Neo was hospitalized after being pulled from our local shelter, requiring multiple specialists and many tests to find the cause of his condition. He currently remains under the care of his primary veterinarian and his dermatologist. This grant was used to help with his medical expenses.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Neo (shelter name: Jigglypuff) was pulled from our local shelter, in desperate need of medical care. His limbs were extremely swollen and his skin was infected.
Through testing, he was diagnosed with a severe MRSA infection. The skin was biopsied so he could receive the proper course of treatment, which has helped him tremendously.
Neo is still receiving treatment and under the care of his primary vet and dermatologist. He recently developed large, deep sores on his feet; through additional testing, he was found to have a sensitivity to MRSA that his body is unable to fight off at normal exposure levels.
Neo is not available for adoption yet; he has an amazing foster mom who manages his daily care, which includes giving him oral meds and medicated baths, disinfecting affected areas, and applying topical medications.
Neo is a very happy boy and enjoys lying in the sun and going for walks. Thank you to the Petfinder Foundation for awarding us with this grant to help with Neo’s medical expenses! Neo has come a long way, as you can see in the photos!
