One Love Animal Rescue Group, Inc.: Orvis Dog Enrichment Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Thanks to the Orvis Dog Enrichment Grant, we were able to purchase Kong toys for our dogs in rescue! We have several long-term residents, senior dogs, and one fospice dog who were absolutely excited to receive one or more of the interactive toys that were purchased from Kong Cares and Chewy!

Diva, a blind senior and our longest-term foster, thrives on interactive toys, and immediately began to play with hers! Ryno, a fospice dog with kidney failure, loved his Kong Goodie Ribbon toy, and Pearl, another long-term resident, loved her Kong Bamboo Feeder Ball toy!

We were able to purchase enough toys so that all the dogs in foster care were able to receive one or two, and we have lots of extras for new dogs who will be brought into the rescue over the next few months. (We purchased more than 100 toys!)

How many pets did this grant help?

40

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Ryno is a 9-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier who was pulled from ACCT Philadelphia on Christmas Eve 2021. Upon examination and testing by one of our veterinary partners, he was found to have advanced kidney disease.

Because of this disease, Ryno is in fospice care with a foster family (the president of the rescue), where he will stay until it is time to cross the Rainbow Bridge. In the meantime, he will get lots of love, good medical care, and toys to keep him feeling happy and loved!

The Orvis Dog Enrichment Grant allowed One Love Animal Rescue to purchase lots of toys that will keep Ryno busy for many months.
