The grant help several of our kittens to be vaccinated. The pet sponsored was Otto (first photo), who has been adopted. From his Petfinder profile: “Well, hello, Big Boy! If you are looking for true gentle giant, Otto is your man. A handsome, tabby-patterned Maine Coon mix, Otto is a mature gentleman at 9 years old. Otto came into rescue from the shelter with a solid mass of fur so thick his skin couldn’t be reached when you pet him. He has been sporting a fashionable lion cut for the summer, and now his hair is growing back nicely to keep him snuggly warm for the cool months ahead.

“A true gentleman, Otto patiently waits for his foster mom to initiate pets, then he becomes a big, happy love sponge, rewarding her with a steady stream of sweet purrs. He adores affection and loves to be pet and brushed. Otto’s most favorite toy ever is a ‘Turbo Scratcher,’ which he goes after with much gusto to keep his nails and paws in great shape. It is also great exercise for him.

“This sweet boy does have some special needs. Otto is overweight and has developed severe arthritis. He is being treated with monthly injections and daily oral pain medication to help him feel more comfortable. Otto is a champion nap-taker, and his naps are likely more frequent due to his pain medication. He is also on special food to help him lose weight, in hopes that it will alleviate some of his arthritis pain. His new family will need to be committed to making sure Otto receives the diet and medication regimen that he needs to feel his best.”
