Abandoned Angels Animal Rescue: Disaster Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Grant funds were used in full for vet expenses for 3 out of the 12 animals that Abandoned Angels Animal Rescue took in as a result of Hurricane Sandy.

The grant helped us to provide care to the displaced animals without having to worry entirely on last minute fundraising.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

The animals we took in were from a woman who lived on one of the barrier islands that was hit the hardest in NJ. When we found out the hurricane was coming up here she was in St. Louis and was unable to help her animals because flights were already being cancelled to get back to NJ. She was devastated and that is when we stepped in to go to her house and pick up the animals the night before the hurricane. We were able to save all of her animals from drowning when the house completely flooded the next day. The damage was so bad she was not able to return to her house until late January and all of the animals were placed in new homes by February 1.
