How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Our shelter received $280 of Kong toys for our cats.

The Kong products are great as they provide much-needed enrichment for our residents and help us to keep them the healthiest we can, both physically and emotionally. The toys were distributed to our residents and they are theirs to keep. When they find their forever homes, their toys go with them. Specifically, we have several long-stay cats who get as much love and attention as our team of staff and volunteers can give; however, they still need to be cats first and be challenged by their own curiosity and drive. The Kong toys are ideal for this!

Tiger loved his Kong toy from the moment he received it. Tiger came to us more than a year ago when he lost his home because his owner became homeless and had to go to a care facility. He was super scared when he first came in — shut down and depressed. With patience from our staff and volunteers, this boy learned to trust again and waited more than a year to find his second chance. Tiger was a challenging case and he needed a quiet, patient human who would go slow with him. Tiger’s wait was over this past summer when his perfect companion came to us looking to help the cat who had been overlooked and needed help the most. Tiger went home with his belongings, including his beloved starfish!
