The grant actually helped Licorice, the cat that it was made in honor of.

When we rescued Licorice, we thought she was a female. Last week she was scheduled to be spayed. It turns out she was a male and had cryptorchidism. This required a more invasive surgery, resulting in a $198 charge instead of the usual $85 charge we are contracted for. The $50 donation will be used towards the increased surgical charge. He was adopted in early November shortly after he was rescued when we thought Licorice was a female.
