Our rescue dogs are shelter animals who are usually on the brink of being put to sleep. When they are transported to us, they are normally dirty and smelly. After being bathed, they get a look on their face of indescribable happiness because they are clean and pretty. They may not like the bath at the time, but it makes such a difference in their attitudes when they feel pampered and loved. It also makes them more adoptable if they look cared-for and people are able to love and handle them when they are smelling pretty and they are glowing with happiness.
