FOWA Rescue: Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The money was used towards helping families adopt who were considering adopting two kittens, but felt they couldn't swing the adoption fee for two. We used the money from the grant for an adopt-one/get-one option. This allowed three more kittens to be adopted along with their siblings. Our standard adoption fee is $150. We also offered a Chewy gift card in the amount of $50 to a first-time pet owner upon his adoption of a kitten.

We receive several requests daily to take in kittens. Since we are foster-based, we can only take in those we have foster homes for. This allowed us to free up space for us to save more.

How many pets did this grant help?

We got four additional kittens adopted through the use of this grant.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

When a family suddenly lost their beloved cat to a cardiac episode, they were devastated. This time they were hoping to adopt two, but were concerned about the adoption fee for two. The Purina grant allowed both Angelique and Adelaide (first photo) to be adopted together into a loving home.

When a family lost their calico cat, they wanted to adopt again. They not only found calico Kalani, but her sister Kathleen, also a calico. Both kittens were very bonded and the family was thrilled to be able to adopt both due to the grant (second photo).

Claude and Callie were being fostered together. A family friend of the foster mom saw the two, fell in love, and Claude and Callie went off to their forever home together (third photo). This also freed up the foster home to save two more kitties in need.

We were also able to offer a Chewy gift card to a family that was adopting their first kitten to help them along with all the supplies they would need to welcome their new family member.
