Zolly, one of the dogs we pulled from [an open-admission] facility, was heartworm-positive. We put this money toward the purchase of the expensive drugs that the vet needs to use to kill the heartworms. From her Petfinder profile: “Zolly is a sweet ‘pocket pittie’ who has been through a tough time and has now found comfort and happiness in one of our wonderful foster homes. She enjoys playing with other dogs, but she is being treated for heartworm so she would benefit from a relatively quiet home. She is about 3 years old, compact and wiggly, and loves affection.
