How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Kong products have allowed us to give our dogs something to keep them happy and occupied during their down time. RBARI strives to prepare our dogs to succeed through both mental and physical stimulation, and Kongs help with this! They are our “go-to” toys, as they keep the dogs happy and occupied for extended periods of time. Lower stress improves the overall adoptability of the dogs, improves the quality of the dogs' stay at the shelter, and allows us to rescue more dogs as we shorten the time each dog remains in the shelter!

A happy dog is an adoptable dog. Despite the time we devote to walking our dogs and exercising their minds and bodies in our playgroups and play yards, there is a substantial amount of time that dogs at the shelter spend in their kennels. During that time, the dogs are often stressed with all the activity, sounds, and other dogs surrounding them. Kongs help keep their bodies and minds occupied!

Xena wants to say thank you the Petfinder Foundation for its KONG Toy Grant, which is providing enrichment for our homeless dogs while they wait for their forever homes! As you can see, Xena couldn’t wait to break into this exciting donation, which will keep her occupied in her kennel for hours of yummy fun! Adoptable Xena is a senior Cane Corso who is a loyal, gentle sweetheart desperately looking for a kind, patient home of her own.
