Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc.: Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Jenna is our office dog at RBARI. A long-term RBARI resident with multiple medical needs, Jenna is a happy, sweet girl who is loved by all of the RBARI staff and volunteers. The funds were used for Jenna's medical needs, which have increased over the past few months even beyond what was expected.

Because Jenna has not yet been adopted, we are providing her an environment that's as close to a home as we can, and funds are still much-needed for her medical expenses. RBARI is founded on the belief that all animals have a right to humane treatment, including proper care and safe shelter. This certainly includes our senior dogs. One of our objectives is to work with special-needs cases, and many of these cases are senior dogs. Rescuing senior dogs completes every aspect of our mission as a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter dedicated to promoting the welfare of dogs and cats in the surrounding communities by protecting these abandoned, abused, and unwanted dogs and finding them kind and loving homes. Your grant funding enables us to continue to rescue more senior dogs.

We at the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc., would like to thank the Petfinder Foundation for the Susie’s Senior Dogs grant awarded to Jenna, our office dog/greeter who has been a long-term RBARI resident and has multiple medical needs. Jenna is a happy, sweet girl who is loved by all of the RBARI staff and volunteers. But, at the end of the day, when the staff goes home, Jenna is still yearning for her forever home. Our hope is to place Jenna into a forever home utilizing funding to support Jenna’s medical needs. It can often be daunting to adopt a senior dog given their medical expenses, but the Petfinder Foundation has helped to lift that weight from Jenna and hopefully encourage a family to bring her home this year!
