Spicy Cats Rescue: Emergency Medical Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Because we are a small rescue, emergencies can be financially devastating. At the beginning of this year, we took in a cat named Beef Wellington who surprised us with over $7k in emergency-room bills. This grant lessened the financial burden of that emergency and allowed us to continue operations.

Beef Wellington entered our care after being trapped at a feral colony.

Within a few days, his bladder obstructed. What began as one emergency-room stay turned into two, then three. After all that, we had to proceed with an emergency perineal urethrostomy surgery to save his life.

This was quite a costly endeavor, and the Emergency Medical Grant made a huge difference towards his bill.

Luckily, Beef has had no further bladder complications since! He is soaking up all the snuggles and love.

Beef is not currently available for adoption pending some unrelated health concerns.
