CATS Cradle Shelter: Shelter+ Challenge Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
We used the money to help pay for medical bills on several cats who needed extra care.
It allowed us to treat 2 adult cats and one kitten. This is money we would not otherwise have available as our shelter resources go towards the regular vetting such as Spay/Neuter, vaccinations, microchips, de-wormings.
How many pets did this grant help?
2 adults and 1 kitten
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
This is “Dot”, she came to us with 4 kittens and an old injury on her paw. Her metacarpal bone was dislocated and had already started to fuse in the wrong position. She was in severe pain and could not bear weight on her front right paw. She also became increasingly impatient with her babies and we soon realized we could not wait to give her the surgery she needed. After several Radiographs, it was determined that the best course of action would be to amputate her 3rd toe. Dot is only one of the cats that was helped with this grant money. One kitten “Gwinner” had been thrown from a car and had head trauma, and another adult “Mercy” had been hit by a car and suffered severe road rash and a partial degloving.
