Hope Animal Rescue: Senior Pet Adoption Assistance Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
This grant supported the adoption and ongoing care for Bruce, a senior beagle who was diagnosed with congestive heart failure shortly after arriving into the rescue's care.
In addition to covering Bruce's $150 adoption fee, we were able to provide a six-month supply of Bruce's treatment regimen, which included furosemide, enalapril, and pimobendan.
How many pets did this grant help?
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
During senior beagle Bruce’s first few months with the rescue, although he had several folks interested in adopting him, the costs of his ongoing care related to his newly diagnosed congestive heart failure were barriers to him finding a home.
Thanks to the Petfinder Foundation’s Senior Pet Adoption grant, we were able to subsidize Bruce’s adoption fee for his lucky forever family and provide six months’ worth of medication to support Bruce’s heart health.
Bruce was adopted in May by a first-time pet owner who had been looking for a sociable companion, a description which fit Bruce to a T. Bruce took exactly two minutes to become completely comfortable in his new home, where he continues to thrive!
