Cat Angels Pet Adoptions: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We used the money to pay for prescription and non-prescription food.

We have several cats who must have prescription food to maintain their health due to chronic illness. This grant helped us pay for their food. We were also able to pay for many large bags of the regular, non-prescription food for the other cats in the shelter that do not require prescriptions.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Sasha has been with Cat Angels for several years, and while she is available for adoption, she tends to get overlooked because she is “special-needs.” Her food in Purina ProPlan NF, which is quite expensive (about $50 for a case of 24), and many adopters shy away from the expense. At Cat Angels, we will give the kitties whatever our vet prescribes, even if it puts a strain on our finances, because we treat every cat as if they were our own. Having the grant from the Petfinder Foundation to pay for her, and other vital prescription foods for our special-needs kitties, made a huge difference during Covid when our donations and adoptions were down.
