S.A.F.E. Animal Haven: Sponsor a Pet Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The money has been used to support our tiny senior dogs who came to us with multiple health issues and for several dogs who have experienced trauma due to humans, such as being shot with a shotgun.

This grant has paid for heartworm treatment, amputation and old age issues.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

My name is Chloe. I was part of a puppy-mill operation. I lived in rabbit hutches with a bunch of other dogs. I had babies that my owner sold. I made money for her but she did not want to spend money on keeping me healthy. I am 9 years old and was heartworm-positive. I received treatment for my heartworms when I became a foster and now I am heartworm-negative. When the vet saw me the first time he discovered I had a collapsed trachea, urinary-tract infections, bad teeth, two floating patellas and, of course, was heartworm-positive. Currently I am spayed and I am healthier. I am very sweet. I love being in air conditioning instead of outside with only trees to provide shade. I am good with other dogs. I love to sit next to a person and watch TV. Well, actually, I take a nap while the human watches TV! If you have room in your heart and in your air-conditioned house to take my little 9 lbs. in, then fill out an application. Meet Chloe: www.petfinder.com/petdetail/38926763
