Oktibbeha County Humane Society: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The $1,000 grant was used to purchase medical tests and vaccinations for 150 shelter animals.

The Petfinder Foundation grant helped to provide for medical testing and vaccinations for 150 animals in our care during the COVID-19 pandemic. With limited operations for more than 10 weeks, we are having shelter animals staying in our care far longer than normal, requiring more vaccinations and medical care than we would normally have to provide. The Petfinder Foundation grant has helped to provide for this unexpected cost and to ensure our shelter animals stay healthy and ready for adoption!

How many pets did this grant help?

150

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Gigi is a senior dachshund who came into the shelter as a stray on May 27. She received a heartworm test and distemper vaccination provided by grant funding from the Petfinder Foundation. She is currently still at the shelter waiting for her owner to reclaim her; if she is not claimed by the end of her stray hold period, Gigi will become available for adoption.
