Oktibbeha County Humane Society: KONG Toys Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The donation of KONG toys was used for daily enrichment for the 1,400+ cats that enter our care each year.

Like many animal shelters, funding is limited and must be prioritized to staffing, medications, and food. OCHS does the best with the resources we are entrusted with; however, we often don't have funding for enrichment items that will improve the mental health of pets in our care. The product donation of KONG toys will help to keep our cats mentally well -- which in turn will help keep them physically well.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Pictured are Dracula and Scarecrow, who were the first to enjoy the KONG toys. It was great fun to watch them pounce and play with the toys! The cats came to us when they were about two months old and spent about three months in our care prior to being adopted. The KONG toys made their shelter stay more enjoyable!
