How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant allowed CritterhouseKC to provide free adoptions to adopters and forever homes to our dogs and cats posted on Petfinder. With a goal of 10 adoptions, these Kia grant funds provide vital resources so CritterhouseKC can focus on matching our pets with the best families. This grant provided free adoptions for 10 dogs and helped CritterhouseKC take in 10 more that were waiting in local shelters.

Marshmallow came to CritterhouseKC from a commercial breeder release back in March 2022. He is 7 years old; has a grade-2 heart murmur, stress colitis, and separation anxiety; is not house-trained; and has a hard time trusting humans.

CritterhouseKC had so many inquiries about Marshmallow, but when we discussed his special needs, we would not get a call back or possible adopters would call and state that he was not a good fit.

Marshmallow stayed in a foster home that could not provide a lot of one-on-one time, and so his special needs increased.

Then, along came a wonderful lady who heard all about Marshmallow’s needs. She met him and fell in love with this little guy and decided to take him home for the rest of his life!
