Creatures By Theresa: Bar Dog Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This 2022 Bar Dog Operation Grant helped us get a ferret some dental work and a lump removed. We also neutered three rabbits so they could be placed up for adoption, bought extra bales hay for the guinea pigs (and rabbits) to eat, and bought two big bags of ferret food.

How many pets did this grant help?

Two ferrets, three rabbits, and 22 guinea pigs -- so 27!

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

We had two 3-year-old ferrets come into our care who were super friendly and calm: Panda, a black sable-colored ferret (first and second photos), and his buddy Po, who is tan and white (third photo).

Panda had a nickel-sized mass on his shoulder/forearm area, which he scratched at and made bleed. It was also growing.

Both boys went into the veterinarian to update their vaccinations, and Dr. B examined them both. As Dr. B examined Panda’s teeth, she noticed a cavity and a little swelling on the gum line, so that was taken care of when Panda had his lump removed. All successfully, we might add.

With the grant funds from the 2022 Bar Dog Operation Grant, CBT was able to get Panda the dental work he needed and remove a mass off of his forearm/shoulder area. Panda is a sweet ferret and so is his cagemate, Po. They are currently waiting for a new home! You can meet them here.
