Hearts for Rescue: Kia Pet Adoption Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The Kia Pet Adoption Grant helped/is helping Hearts for Rescue to allow some of our dogs who have been in the rescue longer be able to be adopted. The grant has been a blessing and much-needed assistance with the economic challenges for many families.

Magnus (first photo) had been with Hearts for Rescue since he was a bottle baby pup in early 2021 (second photo). He was not adopted when he was younger and, because he was a mostly black dog, he seemed to get overlooked often.

Very soon after Hearts for Rescue was awarded the Kia Pet Adoption Grant in the fall of 2022, we had an in-person event and we were able to feature Magnus as a dog with a reduced adoption fee.

A family stopped by our event that day and met Magnus. Before they left, they completed an adoption application and, within days, our Magnus had found his forever family. We have received happy-tail updates from Magnus’ new family (third photo)!
