Saving Dogs 4 Paws at a Time Rescue: KONG Toys Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

This grant provided us with educational toys for our shelter dogs that come from many different backgrounds. These dogs oftentimes come to us from very bad backgrounds and they need extra care.

This grant of toys allows our foster dogs to have the extra educational push needed to be adoptable. Kong toys are very durable and indestructible, so the dogs who have separation anxiety can spend several hours playing and eating the treats without causing damage to property. They also allow these dogs to learn positive ways to channel their anxiety.

How many pets did this grant help?

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Tron (first photo) is a gentle giant who has been with our rescue for two years, with several applicants interested until they were informed of some of his needs. Since we have gotten this grant, Tron’s behaviors have improved greatly. Tron now has a family that is interested in him and has been working with us and him for about a month to acclimate him into their home. The Kong toys have helped Tron develop trust and security in new places and with new people. Before the end of January, he will be in his forever home.
