St. Louis Pet Rescue: Beggin' Pet Parade Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

St. Louis Pet Rescue was able to continue our reduced adoption fee for adult cats.

St. Louis Pet Rescue is unable to completely reduce adoption fees from our normal $125 per cat without a little bit of help. Other local organizations with a larger funding base were able to reduce their cat-adoption fees to $25-50 and we were having trouble competing for cat adoptions. This grant helped us remain competitively priced and still provide the care we normally do, which includes feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus testing, spay or neuter, microchip with free registration, booster vaccinations (FVRCP) and rabies vaccination.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

“Sybil got adopted today!!! It’s the first time I’ve ever seen her tail up in the air, and she was purring too! I think she will be very happy in her new home.” This is a quotation from a foster parent about an adult, declawed cat who had been in our care for nearly three years. Sybil found a home with an older gentleman who is single. He fell in love with Sybil and said the reduced fee fit his budget, whereas other groups’ fees or gaps in vet work did not.
