Pets A Lone Sanctuary of Lincoln County (PALS Animal Shelter): COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The grant funds were used to provide heartworm preventative medicine.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all spring fundraisers at the shelter were cancelled. The spring fundraisers normally bring in approximately $20,000 in revenue for the shelter, which greatly helps with veterinary costs.

The funding provided by the Petfinder Foundation assisted with providing heartworm preventative to the shelter dogs to insure that the animals remain healthy and do not contact the potentially fatal disease.

How many pets did this grant help?

The grant helped 50-100 dogs receive monthly heartworm preventative until they were adopted

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Spade was surrendered to PALS Animal Shelter. This poor pup had spent his young life tied to a tree. Spade was examined by PALS’ vet, neutered, microchipped and given all the appropriate vaccinations. He tested negative for heartworm and so he was started on a monthly heartworm preventative to make sure he remained healthy and heartworm-free. This sweet, goofy, playful guy has been adopted and is living the good life in his forever home. Spade is one lucky pup! Thank you, Petfinder Foundation, for your support of PALS’ animals!
