How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

The money from the grant has been used to start up a better preventative care program for our dogs and cats. Now, we are able to deworm animals right when they come in, treat/prevent fleas/ticks as well as give HeartGard to the animals that are in our care for long periods of time. rnrnPlease excuse the lack of pictures, we ran out of HeartGard after treating all the dogs and cats and our next order is still shipping to us.

It helped us provide preventative care starting from day one when an animal arrives into our facility. Not only does it help stop the spread of parasites but it is also very reassuring to adoptive parents that the animals have had the extra attention for preventative care.

One animal in particular that this grant has helped is Banshee our resident pit bull. Banshee was surrendered to us after her owner could no longer take care of her due to medical issues. She came in March of 2016 and has been here since. It is hard for Banshee to find a perfect home when she does not do well with cats or dogs. But, the special thing about Banshee is that she absolutely adores kids. An officer from town would take her home a few weekends here and there when he was off duty and Banshee would sleep at the end of his 9 year old daughters bed every night. Due to being with us for such a long period of time it has been nice to get her on a monthly schedule for flea/tick preventative as well as a preventative for heart worms while she awaits her forever home. rnrnhttps://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/34573049
