How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We used the $500 to subsidize cat adoptions. We ran a promotion in which all cats over 1 year old are only $25 for two weeks in July.

This grant allowed us to place double the amount of cats we had been placing, allowing us to better serve our community and take in additional cats. This is especially important during kitten season, when we are inundated with strays and litters of kittens.

Our favorite adoption story from our promotion is Geoff. Geoff was cryptorchid, so he spent a month in a foster home after his neuter before becoming available. He was originally adopted in June but came back in July after having been abandoned. Because Geoff had bounced around a lot and was such a sweet, wonderful guy, we really wanted him to find the perfect home.

A friend of our development assistant had been watching Geoff’s multiple journeys through our shelter and decided to come visit him. Geoff immediately stole her heart and she adopted him that day. Geoff now lives a very cushy life with his new mom and we get cute updates.
