Twin Cities Pet Rescue: KONG Toys Grant Report
How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?
The KONG Toy Grant provided durable enrichment for a number of puppies who came into rescue this summer. It gave them mental stimulation; an opportunity to engage in natural, species-appropriate behaviors; and a safe outlet for their natural urge to chew.
These KONG toys provide mentally and physically stimulating enrichment for dogs, and in particular, helped keep the energetic puppies in our rescue busy!
How many pets did this grant help?
Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Bowie, a 3-month-old Lab-mix puppy, came with his siblings to TCPR in May and, like a good puppy, was a bundle of energy. Thanks to this product grant, he received a KONG toy, which he loved — especially when it was filled with frozen peanut butter! For Bowie, his treat-filled KONG was used to help with his crate-training, providing a fun, stimulating and special treat that he received when he was in his crate while his fosters were away from home. Having mental stimulation and using his skills to problem-solve to use the toy were a great way for this energetic puppy to wear himself out and get set up for a great start in his forever home, which he found in July!
