Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.
Kaleigha (first photo) is an 11-year-old boxer who was abused daily for the first seven years of her life, resulting in some permanent scarring to her face.
She was then passed off to a temporary home, which turned into an extended stay with owners who did not really want her. She was given minimal water, as they did not want to let her go out to the bathroom, leading to multiple urinary-tract infections and accidents in the house.
Despite this, Kaleigha has a lot of energy and is very playful. Thanks to the Petfinder Foundation Kia Adoption Grant, Kaleigha has now been adopted into a wonderful retirement home where she can live the rest of her days knowing only love and kindness.
Paisley (second photo) is an 8-year-old brindle boxer. Paisley is a goof. She LOVES tennis balls more than anything. She loves to snuggle and of course loves to be spoiled! We have gotten her up to date on vaccines and have done some further testing.
Paisley was diagnosed with leukemia in August of 2022. Up until this point, we don’t think anyone would have guessed she had it. She is happy and playful. She is currently on a couple of medications that she will require for the rest of her life (estimated to be one to three years).
She is being spoiled beyond measure in her foster home, but we are looking for someone to adopt her. She is currently available for adoption through Minnesota Boxer Rescue with a $0 adoption fee thanks to the Petfinder Foundation Kia Pet Adoption Grant.
