How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

We used the grant towards the medical care required by one of our fosters, Bear.

We often take in dogs requiring substantial veterinary care that goes far above and beyond the adoption fees that we recoup. Without donations, we would not be able to continue caring for such dogs.

Bear came to us when his owner passed away and no one in his family could take Bear or his brother, Beau. Bear was substantially overweight, with nails curled, long hair in mats all over his body and in severe need of a dental and regular vet workup including bloodwork, heartworm test and vaccinations. Since he’s been in foster care, he has received a lot more physical exercise and a proper diet and is doing splendid. UPDATE from May 25, 2016: To say that Bear hit the jackpot is a great understatement. After being in foster care for four months, Bear was adopted by a wonderful couple living in Illinois. As you can see from the last three photos, I think he will be a happy boy there.
