Tyson's Place Animal Rescue: Sponsor a Pet Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Veterinary bills for a senior dog

Our rescue specifically assists terminally ill people with finding new families for their pets. Because of this specialized mission, many of the animals we take in are seniors and require veterinary care. The Sponsor a Pet grant is a great way to assist us in providing this needed veterinary care.

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

The Sponsor a Pet grant was used for Tonto, a 9-year-old terrier mix who came to us after his owner became too ill to care for him. Tonto had severe allergy issues, including ear infections. We spent several months getting his skin and ears under control, only to discover he needed a surgery to remove extensive, painful bladder stones. Our vet was shocked he was even able to urinate normally. The Sponsor a Pet grant helped pay for this surgery. After the surgery, Tonto had a new bounce in his step and was finally adopted. He is enjoying a life of relaxation with his new owner, who recently retired and was looking for companionship.
