Friends of Companion Animals: COVID-19 Operation Grant Report

How did this grant help your organization and the pets in your care?

Primarily food, but we did have a special medical case come up that cost nearly the amount of the grant. So thanks to the Petfinder Foundation Covid-19 grant, we were able to feed our animals AND take care of a kitty with medical issues.

In addition to helping a mama cat with heartworm and her two kittens, it also helped us provide food for the 125+ cats and kittens at our all-cat shelter.

How many pets did this grant help?

125

Please provide a story of one or more specific pets this grant helped.

Thanks to the Petfinder Foundation Covid-19 grant, we were able to help meet all our animals’ dietary and supply needs during this time when donations have been down. It became especially helpful when we found ourselves with an unusual medical case. Rose came to us with her two kittens, Remi (F) and Ramsey (M). Upon closer testing and inspection, we discovered that Rose had heartworm. Our on-call shelter vet provided the diagnosis and treatment, which ended up being nearly $1000 ($991.16, to be exact). So the funds we received for the care and feeding of our pets went a long way because we were able to get her care and treatment thanks to the other additional funds from the Petfinder Foundation. We’re happy to report that Mama Rose is doing great and all three felines have been adopted and are in loving homes.
